Press Platen / Mold Insulation

The rising cost of energy is just one reason to consider Red Seal’s full line of Press Platen and Mold insulation. You’ll also benefit from a more uniform and consistent thermal pattern.

We offer materials in four main product groups for your press platen and mold insulation needs: Calcium Silica, Glass Polyester, Cement Board, and Mica. Marinite P, (Calcium Silica) offers a higher temperature rating than the glass polyester. The Glass Polyesters (Glastherm HT and S, Thermolate, and Haysite H320, H330 and H340) have a higher compressive strength and are denser and stronger. Of course these factors are all affected by the thickness of the material and your particular application.

A newer entry in this arena, HT 220 combines a higher thermal rating with a tougher, denser board. Also, view the specs on grade H340 also known as Heatmeiser, the latest addition to our mold jacket and platen thermal insulation product line. Heatmiser maintains a consistent compressive strength at elevated temperatures.

Cogetherm M and Cogetherm P are Muscovite and Phlogopite Mica impregnated boards. These boards are designed for use under very stringent conditions and have excellent resistance to heat and even to open flames.

You might want to investigate the benefits of Pyropel, a material with very good thermal and compressive strength characteristics even at relatively thin sheet sizes.

Grade Class Description
Cogetherm M Sheet Manufactured from a paper comprising flakes of muscovite mica, which is impregnated with resin and agglomerated to form a laminate.
Cogetherm P Sheet Manufactured from a paper comprising flakes of phlogopite mica, which is impregnated with resin and agglomerated to form a laminate.
CS85 Sheet A high temperature replacement for asbestos transite. It offers high strength and electrical resistance combined with minimal shrinkage for applications up to and exceeding 1800º F.
Glastherm HT200 Sheet A thermal insulating sheet with superior strength and heat resistance for applications with continuous use temperatures up to 550º F.
Glastherm HT220 Sheet A thermal insulating sheet with superior strength and heat resistance for applications with continuous use temperatures up to 550º F.
Glastherm HT250 Sheet A thermal insulating sheet with superior strength and heat resistance for applications with continuous use temperatures up to 550º F.
Glastherm S Sheet A general purpose insulating sheet with an economical combination of thermal and physical properties.
H91 Sheet Designed for use at high temperature, while retaining strength and integrity over years of mechanical and thermal abuse.
Heatmeiser H340 Specially engineered fiberglass reinforced thermoset polyester composite that offers superior energy efficiency, temperature control and durablitlity for high termpreature mold jacket and platen thermal insulation applications.
HST II Sheet A high temperature polyester laminate that exhibits excellent retention of electrical and mechanical properties at elevated temperatures.
Isomag 175 Sheet Phosphate bonded forsterite board, 96lb density, 1800°F.
Isoplan 750 Isoplan is composed of special ceramic and mineral fibers.
Marinite A Sheet A strong, machinable, non-asbestos, inorganic board insulation for conveying, containing, handling and forming molten aluminum and other non-ferrous metals.
Marinite C Sheet Similar in properties to Marinite A.
Marinite I Sheet A non-asbestos, incombustible material manufactured in panel form. Designed to combine structural strength and high thermal insulating values.
Marinite M Sheet A non-asbestos, incombustible material manufactured in panel form. Designed to combine structural strength and high thermal insulating values.
Marinite P Sheet A non-asbestos, incombustible self-supporting board that provides high insulating values, fire safety and exceptionally high compressive strength.
Metal Form Sheet Was produced by BNZ Materials.
Nad-11 Sheet A glass-mica-quartz cement board, non-asbestos, with comparable properties as the asbestos cement-type, non-combustible boards.
RS-100 A ceramic fiber reinforced structural alumina composite material.
SG-200 Sheet A high strength laminate that maintains excellent retention of properties at elevated temperatures.
SG-50 A non-asbestos structural ceramic refractory reinforced with continuous fibers to increase the toughness, reliability and overall performance of the ceramic composite.
SG-70 A non-asbestos structural ceramic refractory reinforced with continuous fibers to increase the toughness, reliability and overall performance of the ceramic composite.
Super Firetemp L Sheet Super Firetemp L is an inorganic, high temperature insulation and passive fire protection barrier. It can be used as insulation in ovens, processing equipment, pipe supports, precipitators, and other high temperature applications.
Super Firetemp M Sheet An inorganic, incombustible material composed primarily of lime, silica and reinforcing fibers.
Super Firetemp S Sheet An inorganic, incombustible material composed primarily of lime, silica and reinforcing fibers.
Super Firetemp X Sheet An inorganic, incombustible material composed primarily of lime, silica and reinforcing fibers.
Thermalate H320 Sheet A specially engineered fiber glass reinforced thermoset polyester composite.
Thermalate H330 Sheet A specially engineered fiber glass reinforced thermoset polyester composite.
Transite 1000 A high-density, non-asbestos board used in a wide variety of applications where a combination of high strength, thermal stability, electrical insulation or machinability is required.
Transite HT Sheet A high density, non-asbestos board used in a wide variety of applications where a combination of high strength, thermal stability, electrical insulation or machinability is required.
