Meet Maplex C - A New Environmentally-Friendly Material In Our Lineup

At Red Seal Electric Company, we’re always expanding our lineup to meet the evolving needs of engineers and manufacturers across industries. Today, we’re excited to introduce Maplex C, a new composite pressboard material now available in our inventory.

Maplex C is biodegradable, recyclable, and VOC-free, making it an environmentally responsible choice without compromising performance.

What is Maplex C?

Maplex C is a low-density thermoset cellulose-based pressboard with superior mechanical properties, dimensional strength, and a smooth sheet surface.

Maplex C is manufactured 100% from non-bleached cellulose pulp and water processed with heat and pressure. According to the manufacturer, Weidmann, the material’s natural strength comes from cellulose’s inherent hydrogen bonding, fiber alignment during sheet formation, and a unique drying process. That means Maplex C has:

  • No chemicals

  • No bleach

  • No formaldehyde

  • No petroleum-based products

  • No binders

  • No glue

  • No resin

Standout Properties

One of the key benefits of Maplex C is that it is highly shapeable, maintaining the integrity of inner and outer curves with minimal risk of breaking, wrinkling, or fiber separation.

Though it retains its natural kraft board color, Maplex C is paintable, stainable, printable, and laminatable, making it a versatile solution for products like:

  • Interior decorative paneling

  • Collapsible recycling bins

  • Clothing hangers

  • Other shaped or molded consumer and industrial applications

Maplex C Technical Properties

  • Thickness Range: 1.2 – 2.3 mm

  • Apparent Density: 1.05 g/cm³

  • Moisture Content: 4.9%

  • Tensile Strength MD: 82.5 N/mm²

  • Tensile Strength CMD: 48.2 N/mm²

  • Tensile Elongation MD: 10%

  • Tensile Elongation CMD: 13%
